Discussion – Are Making Books into Movies a Good Idea?

Here’s the chance to give your opinion! Tell us whether you think making books into movies is a good idea and why. I myself am a little divided on this topic – I thought the movie made from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was very good, but the one made from Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix was terrible! There is also a heated debate over whether the actors chosen for the up-and-comming Twilight movie are the best choice for the roles. So let your voice be heard!

Update: Here’s a link to a post by Cassandra Clare about what she thinks of her books being made into movies

No…. not unless you can please all the readers of the book. Like Northern Lights: it annoying that the title of the movie is Golden Compass, it spacifically says in the book that it is NOT a compass. Also (i’ll the Northern Lights again) many things in movies are out of order than in the book. For example Lyra takes the ride on Iorek Bynerson before she rescues the kids from Bolvanger? I don’t think so!

I think that it is hard to get someone good looking enuf for Edward. I mean Cedric Diggory? He’s good looking but he ain’t no Johnny Depp!
